Tip #9 - GET YOUR GAME FACE ON

Think about a performer in a theater production. The performer does not show up 5 minutes before the production, walk on stage, and start delivering the lines. There are certain things performers do to be ready for the big production. They need to put on their costumes and make-up, warm up their voices, and check for any last-minute changes to the script. Likewise, when it comes down the day of the test, there are certain strategies you can use to help you perform well on the test.

1. Get to the testing location early. This way, if there is any problem on the way to the test, you will have some extra time to deal with the problem. For instance, if all of the lead broke off your pencils, you have time to sharpen your pencils without being in a frantic hurry.

2. When you arrive at school, go to your classroom that you are taking the test in early. Again, you want to make sure everything is ready for you to do well. You will see your friends after the test. Also, sometimes talking with people about the test can cause some unnecessary stress.

3. Get focused on the test. Remind yourself that you are ready for this test. Remind yourself how much preparation you put into this test.
